Eddie 028

About Eddie:

DOB: 01/05/1992

Height: 13.3hh

Breed: Welsh B

Colour: Bay

Gender: Gelding

Eddie is a sweet bay gelding who is a popular school master at the riding school as he is very kind natured.

He has three correct paces but can be very bouncy, especially in trot. Eddie is ridden by children and small adults as he is quite small himself.

Eddie suffers from asthma, the work he does in the school helps his condition but we have to keep a close eye on him at all times to make sure he is okay.

He’s a very friendly fellow, and popular with plenty of the volunteers, he enjoys the attention of being groomed and fussed over! His coat colour is bay, meaning his body is brown and mane and tail black. The white marking down his head is a stripe, or thin blaze, and is a common marking on horses.

About Welsh B

Eddie is a Welsh Section B pony. There are four closely related horse breeds coming from Wales, which are primarily defined by their height, they are conveniently known as Section A, B, C and D! Welsh ponies and cobs are known for their good temperament, hardiness and good movement.

It’s thought that Wales has had native ponies hundreds of years, maybe even as far back as 1600BC. They’ve been around for a long time, and are thought to have evolved from the pre-historic Celtic Pony, so even before the Romans came! Living as semi-feral herds, roaming the mountains and moorlands of wales, Welsh Ponies have turned into a tough, hardy breed!

Throughout their history, Welsh ponies and cobs have been used for all sorts of work, and the modern breeds are still popular for many different disciplines (like showing, jumping and such, as well as just for fun!).
