Our Horses & Ponies
The number of horses and ponies varies from time to time at the Farm, but here are a selection of those we have at the moment!
We hope to add all the other ponies to this page soon...
Tarron came to Deen City Farm after being rescued and rehabilitated by the Blue Cross. He is one of our most versatile horses as he enjoys doing pony rides, dressage lessons and can jump a 3’3 course.
Although Tarron is only 14.2 he is very strong and can easily carry adult riders.
Tarron has a hogged (clipped) mane because he suffers from an allergy to midge bites called sweet itch and this makes it easier to treat, also it is appropriate for his breed.
Eddie is a sweet bay gelding who is a popular school master at the riding school as he is very kind natured.
He has three correct paces but can be very bouncy, especially in trot.
Eddie suffers from asthma, the work he does in the school helps his condition but we have to keep a close eye on him at all times to make sure he is ok.
Trio
Trio, so called because she is Tri-Coloured is suitable for all level riders whether you are a complete beginner learning to ride or a more advanced rider as she can do lovely dressage test and jump a 3’3 show jumping course.
She is also useful for lunge lessons for those riders wishing to improve upon their positions.
Ingrato
Ingrato was born in Spain and is a classically trained dressage horse, he is mostly used for more advanced riders and career students as he can teach them so much about what dressage should feel like.
As a dressage horse Iggys jumping was rather neglected but since coming to Deen City Farm he has learnt to jump, he has quite a good natural technique and seems to enjoy it as a fun break from the dressage.
Ted
Ted is a sweet grey gelding school master. He has three correct paces and is a real gem as he never puts a hoof wrong definitely one to clone in every size.
He has taught many children to ride from beginning to learning to jump as he is a huge confidence giver and much loved.
Sinatra
Sinatra, so called because of his pretty blue eyes started life in Belgium as a show jumper but we find he has more natural talent as a dressage horse luckily he seems to love both disciplines equally.
Sinatra’s dressage movements go up to Elementary and he can show jump to Discovery level. He is therefore useful for competition riders and exam students as well as those just wanting to ride better and learn from his experience.
