From time to time, the Farm shows diversification in Farming by bringing in a type of livestock that might not be common place in the agricultural industry in the UK.
Alpacas
Our pair of alpacas, named Milo & Kimby, arrived at the Farm in 2004, care of a donation from a loyal supporter of the Farm.
Alpacas, originally from South America, are more commonplace nowadays in the UK and are farmed for their fleeces to make exceedingly expensive but exceedingly warm jumpers!
Members of the public can be forgiven for often mistaking Milo & Kimby as "Llamas" as there is an unquestionable likeness. They are both "Camelids" (coming from the same family as 'camels') but alpacas are smaller than llamas and generally friendlier and easier to train.
Visitors will recognise that our alpacas are quite shy but they are still very happy to take grass nuts from your hand if the greedy goats don't get in the way!
