Toggenburg goat Pearl, started the Farm's "breeding season" last year, and gave birth to two perfect goat kids, Peridot and Topaz.
Due to lack of space, we have had to re home Pearl and her kids in April 2008, but their new home has 7 acres of land and an Angora goat to share it with.
Our Goats
The Farm has four nanny goats with very individual names and very individual characters: Dresden, Maddie and Maizie (British Alpines - see right) and Stella (Toggenburg). Dresden and Maddie are mother and daughter and Maddie was born in 2005 and had her first kid (Maizie) in 2007. Goats tend to have one or two offspring when they are 'in kid'.
Toggenburgs produce milk of good quality and quantity with a good length of lactation. Temperament is generally very good and they are easily managed. Pearl seems to be the exception to the rule and is certainly the greediest goat at Deen City Farm. Try buying a cup of grass nuts from our shop to find out what she's like!
