Incubator Hire

The Farm has eight incubators and related equipment to enable hiring groups to experience the amazing opportunity of hatching out chicks at their own organisation!

The Incubator Scheme has three phases that reflect the half-terms for Schools in Merton, as follows:

Phase I

25th February to 4th April 2008
Phase II  21st April to 23rd May 2008 NOTE.  The Farm will try to arrange deliveries that are convenient to the Hirer and the Farm, but the ultimate decision of a delivery date and time is the Farm's.
Phase III 2nd June to 23rd July 2008

For a small charge, the Farm is happy to give a presentation to classes at the nursery or school to explain about looking after the eggs and hatching out chicks.  This usually includes bringing a live, adult bird to the group to show them what might have laid the eggs they are looking after!

The Farm provides the following equipment:

  • Incubator & Cradle with thermometer

  • Brood Hutch & Spare Brood Lamp

  • Chick Crumb (food)

  • Feed/Water Bowls

  • Woodshavings for Bedding

  • Instructions

  • Sixteen chick eggs

Important: We prioritise groups within the London Borough of Merton (LBM) by only taking bookings from them up until 1st November.  After this date, the scheme is open to all.
The costs of the Scheme are summarised as follows:
Delivery, collection and setting up of equipment (within LBM) £125
Delivery, collection and setting up of equipment (outside of LBM) £145
A Short talk to the group at the time of delivery £10
A Live Bird to show the group £5
Therefore, Typical Total Cost is.... £140 or £160

In order for us to take a booking, you must sign and return a copy of the leaflet below.  You should also find all the details you require, but if you have any questions, then do give us a call:
