Here Come the Mirror Men!!

An amazingly kind donation from a parting trustee of the Farm, namely Christina Lawrence, was to hand us a cheque to enable us to purchase four safety-backed mirrors for the Riding School.

The mirrors were duly purchased towards the end 2007 but we hadn’t had the chance to complete the paperwork necessary to put the mirrors up safely and really get on with the work until very recently.

When riding lessons were yet again disrupted by the weather, Riding School staff started digging the holes necessary for the wooden poles that would support the mirrors.  But, as if by magic, before all the holes were dug, along came our very own Fairy Godmother in the shape of Costello Fencing.

Another very kind person (the parent of a volunteer who rides at the Farm—Daniella King) had asked Michael from Costello Fencing to drop by and put the mirrors up for us… professionally… at no cost to the Farm.  How good is that?!!!

The timescale for doing the work was agreed and soon afterwards, at the very end of March 2008, two charming gentlemen arrived started digging the holes and putting the posts into concrete.

The mirrors themselves were fixed into place the following day.  Before the end of the week, the first riders were trotting around the arena, fully able to see themselves and their position as they went towards the mirrors!

Thank you again to the kind donors (Alan King and Christina Lawrence) for enabling this project to go ahead.  Many, many riders will have a more beneficial, educational experience in arena as a result.

In addition to the London Borough of Merton, we would like to thank the following people and organisations for their recent support...
