Christmas Show 2006!!!

Just after Christmas, the Riding School put on it's annual festive show to celebrate the year and to give clients and volunteers the chance to dress up and raise some pennies for the Riding School.

The Christmas Show was a big success this year and we would like to thank everyone that participated and helped make it such a fun and enjoyable day.

Dressage

There were many entrants in the two dressage competitions.  The winner of the prelim was Miranda Hill on Brady and the winner of the Novice on our newest horse Tarron was Kathryn Whybrow.

Chase Me Charlie

This was a nail-biting affair: we started with 5 contestants but there was a real competition between the final two with Francesca Bailey and Kate Malone fighting it down to their last lives. Francesca on Riley was eventually victorious jumping 3’3 with only one life left.

Fancy Dress

The Fancy dress competition was a hotly contested event with very little to choose between them:

1st Francesca Bailey & Kathryn Whybrow with Tarron
2nd Katie Clifford, Hayley Catchpole & Sarah Yeadon with Brady
3rd Sarah Orbel, Levi Wigglesworth and Miranda Hill with Eddie.
The day raised much-needed funds to pay for the Riding School's new drainage which was implemented just before Christmas.  It cost the Farm a huge amount of money but should ensure that there is no disruption (caused by wet weather) for the foreseeable future.

If anyone knows of a corporate sponsor, or anyone else who wants to buy a 2007 Farm Calendar, it would help fill the financial hole that the investment has made in the Farm's finances.

Kelly King

The only downside to the day was that it coincided with Kelly King's last day as an employee at the Farm.

Kelly had been working here for over four years and her enthusiasm for these events, coupled with her horse-knowledge, inspiring teaching and organisation skills will be hard to replace.

Everyone there wished her well for the future and asks her to keep in touch.
