For those people who would love to help out but who find it more difficult to work on their own, we offer supported placements.
Volunteers come with a support worker for two hours a week and are typically referred to us by an organisation such as a hospital, care home or college, as well as by family members.
Such volunteers help with specific tasks, eg. collecting eggs or feeding the chickens. Volunteers typically come with their own support worker, who we expect to get involved with the task at hand! Support workers undergo an induction too.
For this reason and for the benefit of the volunteer, we ask that the same support worker accompanies the volunteer throughout the placement. Furthermore, support workers attend the initial induction, so that they know what to do and how to stay safe.
