Green Gathering - Celebration of Renewable Energy Programme (Scroll Down to see Pictures)
We were delighted to have the good company of Cllr John Dehaney and a group of children from Merton Abbey Primary School at the Farm on Tuesday 17th March 2009 to celebrate the completion of our Renewable Energy Programme.
Through the support of a cluster of funders, a few casual ideas way back in 2006 have by 2009 become a reality.
The Green Gathering was a means of showing to the community the new technologies installed and many of the other aspects of our work that have an environmental edge to them.

Children from Merton Abbey certainly seemed to enjoy their visit: they made a paper brick, crushed up some cans and tried to provide the wind power to rotate a fan (to show how a wind turbine works).
The funders & supporters of the Renewable Energy Programme are shown on the left, with EDF Energy contributing the highest amount to the installations (almost £25K).
In addition to rainwater butts, composting, recycling the muckheap, using a wormery and many other measures in place, the Farm now has a wind turbine, PV panels and a wood burner (to generate the majority of the Farm's hot water).
