Work Experience Placements

Unfortunately we are now fully booked for this academic year, so we are only accepting applications for dates starting after August 2009

The Farm offers Work Experience placements for those aged 14 and upwards in departments such as Livestock (the farm animals), the Stables and in the Garden.

Short-term Work Experience placements run from Monday or Tuesday through to Friday for one, or ideally, two weeks.

Long-term Work Experience placements are for one day a week (Tuesday to Friday) for 3 months and coincide with school terms. These are more suited to young people interested in vocational work who may benefit from some education outside of the classroom environment. We encourage applications to be made through schools or other referral organisations.

Note. Jobs are sometimes seasonal, particularly in the Garden.
We host placements throughout the year and prioritise those from the London Borough of Merton. The summer term can get booked up, so please apply as early as possible or ring to make sure there is a place before applying – we do sometimes get last minute cancellations, so it’s always worth a try!

We strongly prefer to take pupils during school term time, as we are very busy during the holiday periods and therefore are unable to provide as much support to our pupils as we would like.  During these times we have many young children on activity weeks and so the work is likely to involve an element of working with children.

To apply please complete and return the Volunteer Application Form. We will then contact you and may offer you an interview.  The interview gives you a chance to see the farm and to learn more about what the role involves.  It also gives us the opportunity to find out a little more about you and decide whether you are a suitable candidate.

Should the interview be successful, we will confirm your placement on that day.
