Supported Volunteer Placements

For those people who would love to help out but who find it more difficult to work on their own, we offer supported placements.

Volunteers come with a support worker for two hours a week and are typically referred to us by an organisation such as a hospital, care home or college, as well as by family members.

Volunteers help with specific tasks, such as collecting eggs and feeding the chickens, or mucking out a large animal pen. Volunteers typically come with their own support worker, who we expect to get involved with the task at hand. Support workers must undergo the same induction as volunteers.

For this reason and for the benefit of the volunteer, we ask that a maximum of three support workers accompany the volunteer throughout the placement.  Furthermore, these support workers must attend the initial induction and the first week, so that they know what to do and how to stay safe.
