Volunteering & Work Experience at the Farm

Please be aware that our Volunteer Programme is currently oversubscribed until beyond September 2010.

You are still able to submit an application (see form link below) but it is best that you contact us again by phone in the autumn.

Our Volunteer Programme is very popular and there is usually a waiting list in place. For some roles this can be over three months long, so please be patient!

The first step for anyone wanting to volunteer is to complete an Application Form.

If you want a work experience placement, you should contact us by phone to establish whether or not there is a space and, if there is, should then send in the Application Form.

Do you want to:

  • learn new skills?
  • gain confidence?
  • make new friends?
  • become part of our community?
  • get out of the house and
    interact with the environment?
  • get fit (many of our roles are
    physically demanding!)?

Jack Petchey Award
With a very active Volunteer Programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund we believe we can offer something for everyone.  You can help out on the farm itself or in the stables, the garden, the café, the office, and other one-off projects.  As a registered charity we rely on the help of our volunteers in addition to our dedicated staff.

We currently have over 100 volunteers who come along each week, and these people bring great diversity to the farm.

The minimum age of volunteers is 12, and there is no upper age limit!  Juniors (12-17) generally come at the weekend, and Adults (18+) generally come during the week (Tuesday to Friday).

We also offer placements to volunteers who come with a support worker.  Please take a look at the relevant sub-sections by hovering your mouse over the ‘Volunteering’ button to the left.

Deen City Farm is part-funded annually by the London Borough of Merton.
